Chapter 250, From Trouble to A Reunion
by SilavinLoren and Lapis returned to the inn from the sewer entrance and welcomed dawn without a wink of sleep. As the sky brightened, they began to remove the threads that Nig had wrapped around the inn the previous night. They did not know what the spider’s intention was in sealing off the inn, but as long as there were people inside, they thought that they could not keep the inn locked up.
Loren did not know how Nig felt about their action, but the spider did not act out of control and just clung to his shoulder as usual.
Using daggers whose blades had been heated, they somehow managed to cut up the exceedingly durable spider threads. When they opened the door, their eyes met those of the innkeeper, who had been sitting behind the counter since who knew when.
Loren felt that this was a situation that deserved his anger, but the innkeeper did not say a word when he saw Loren’s group standing at the doorway, as if he did not understand what situation his inn had been until then.
“Ah… Are you mad?”
Loren awkwardly asked the silent innkeeper, and the guy simply replied in a murmur.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Well… You know how the windows and the doors of the inn were shut?”
“I don’t know.”
The cold, emotionless voice made Loren scratch his cheeks, unsure of what to make of it.
“So you’re not mad?”
“I don’t know.”
“This is hopeless.”
By this point, Loren had come to understand that this innkeeper was not normal.
Whatever the cause might be, no matter how long he talked with someone he could not communicate with properly, the situation would not progress. Loren gave up and decided to leave the matter with the inn behind, and left for the soldiers’ station of Suest.
No matter how remote a city was, soldiers were still dispatched from the capital to keep public order. Basically, the soldiers were in charge of catching and investigating criminals who committed crimes in the city, and Loren thought that they needed to report the disappearance of the group of people that they had seen last night.
As an adventurer, Loren was not sure how much of his testimony would be accepted, and this caused him some anxiety. However, he knew that the guards would not hesitate to act if more than a dozen people had disappeared to who knows where. If those at the station were not enough to settle the matter, the soldiers were sure to request assistance from the capital, and hopefully the power of the state might be able to shed some light on the mysterious disappearance.
But when Loren took the others to the soldiers’ station, he came across a sight that made him think that it might not go as he planned.
The station had a room for taking complaints from the citizens, and that was where Loren and his team went. However, as soon as they entered the place, they saw three men who looked like adventurers at the reception counter and a guard sitting behind it, answering their questions.
“Like I said, the priest of our party hasn’t been seen since last night!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I’m telling you that our party’s priest has disappeared!”
“I don’t understand.”
“What the hell do you mean you don’t know? It’s impossible to talk with you! Get me somebody more important!”
The man was so enraged that ‘furious’ was barely an appropriate word to describe his state. He even tried to grab the guard behind the counter. But the guard who was talking to them did not change his expression at all, and remained nonchalant in front of the men’s angry voices.
“Our commander is absent.”
“Then someone lower in rank!”
“The vice commander is also absent.”
“Then who is here?!”
“I don’t know.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!”
A man, probably a swordsman, leaned over the counter and tried to grab the guard by the chest.
Loren could tell that the man was probably a few years older than he was. If he was not stopped, he probably would climb over the counter and grab the guard, and if he did, they could all be imprisoned as criminals. Knowing this, a bandit-looking man and a magician-looking man from each side grabbed the swordsman-looking man by the shoulders and arms to stop him from doing so.
“Let go of me! You bastard!”
“Stop him! We’ll be arrested if you cause a scene here!”
“Shut up! I have to give him a punch to the face!”
The two men tried to stop him, but the swordsman was too strong and dragged them with him. The bandit and the magician desperately tried to hold the swordsman back, because they knew that if he really touched the guard, it would end badly.
Loren felt a sense of déjà vu when he saw no signs of fear or dismay from the guard no matter how furious the swordsman was. What was more surprising was the appearance of the swordsman, who was about to attack the guard.
“That guy, I remember seeing him somewhere…”
“You have a male acquaintance, Loren?”
“Hey, what do you mean by that?”
Loren reached out to grab Ivy, who was feigning surprised. But Ivy was faster, she fled and hid behind Gula as if using her as a shield.
“Ah, hey, don’t use me as a shield!”
“Don’t worry. You won’t lose, right?”
“Stop messing around! If he does something with his power, I’ll lose!”
Loren stared at his own palm, wondering if he had enough power to win against an Evil God. But Gula and Ivy continued to joke around, but just as Loren was thinking that it was time to put a stop to their noisy behavior, the swordsman, who was still struggling with his friends at the reception counter, yelled at Loren’s group as the bandit man held him back by the arms.
“You’re too noisy! Get the hell away if you have nothing to do!”
“I’m sorry if we offended you. I’ll shut them up, forgive us.”
If you made noises right next to a dispute, even if you were bystanders, you couldn’t help but be yelled at. Thinking this, Loren glared at both Ivy and Gula once to make them quiet, then slightly bowed to the swordsman who had yelled at him. The fault was on their side, so he thought he should apologize for now.
When Loren lifted his head, for some reason, he caught the swordsman staring at him with a gaping mouth. From the look on his face, Loren felt that he definitely knew the man from somewhere, so he decided to confirm it.
“By the way, have we met somewhere before?”
“Where… Aren’t you Loren?”
The bandit released his hold as the swordsman ceased his struggle. He was frozen with a look of surprise on his face as he looked at Loren, and Loren, who was also looking at him, was lost in thought. He was still unable to remember where he had seen the man before, although he looked familiar.
“I want to say ‘How dare you forget my face’, but I guess it can’t be helped. After all, you and I were just members of the Muttschild Mercenaries, nothing more.”
Loren wondered to himself if that was the name of the company. He didn’t remember paying much attention to the company’s name. He probably had heard about it somewhere, but rather than having forgotten about it, it was more like he couldn’t recall it even if told.
“Did this person work in the same mercenary company as you, Loren?”
As he listened to Lapis, Loren finally realized that if he recognized the man in front of him, the only possibility was that the man was someone he met during his mercenary days. If it was someone he had met after becoming an adventurer, he would remember most of them, and he would not have to wonder about it.
“You became an adventurer, huh? I’m surprised you’re still alive.”
“Aren’t you in a similar situation? Ehh…”
Even after realizing that the other man seemed to have been in the same mercenary company as him, Loren was still unable to recall the man’s name. Perhaps he had only met the guy in the group and did not know his name. After all, there were quite a few members in the company, and Loren did not know all of them.
“My name is Mills. You’re right, I’m an adventurer now. It’s the only way for people like us, who can only fight, to survive after quitting the mercenary business.”
Thinking that most people had the same thought, Loren asked just in case.
“If you have good manners, you can become a soldier or something, can’t you?”
“You’re an idiot, aren’t you? There are only a few who have good enough manners to work for the state… You could have done it, couldn’t you? Why did you become an adventurer then?”
“Aren’t you an adventurer too? My manners aren’t good either. You overestimate me. By the way, what’s your problem?”
As Mills was in the same company as him, Loren thought that no matter how bad-mannered he was, he would not attack a member of the general public for no reason. In that case, there must have been some reason for the attack, and when he asked Mills about it, Mills turned his reproachful gaze to the guard who had been watching the exchange between them without a change in expression before replying.
“One of our party members disappeared last night, and we came here to inform the guard that something might have happened. But this bastard keeps saying he doesn’t know what’s going on and I can’t talk to him.”
“There were no signs of vandalism in the room he was staying in, but we are concerned because this is not a man who would go somewhere without telling us.”
The magician spoke with concern for his party member, then glanced at the expressionless guard, who gave no clue about whether he was listening to their conversation or not, and said in a whisper.
>”The poor quality of the guards on the frontier is troubling.”< “Can you tell us a little more about that?” The story of the sudden disappearance of one of their party members was somewhat similar to what Loren had seen last night, and Loren thought he should ask Mills for more information. Mills immediately nodded. “No problem. But let’s go somewhere else. This place is disgusting.” Mills intentionally wanted to be heard, but the guard, who probably could hear him, did not change his expression. He kept his eyes fixed in their direction with a blank expression as if he was wearing a mask or something, and it was difficult to determine whether he was really seeing them or not. Cheap HMO Insurance Plans in Florida for Students With Same Day Coverage
I have spent years helping students in Florida find affordable health insurance, and one thing I have learned is that most college students are overwhelmed by the process. Many students are moving away from home for the first time, starting a new job, or attending universities that require proof of insurance before classes begin. In my experience, students usually need something affordable, simple to understand, and active immediately. That is exactly why cheap HMO insurance plans with same day coverage have become so popular across Florida in 2025 and 2026. I have personally worked with students in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, and Jacksonville who needed health coverage within hours because their school registration was blocked without proof of insurance. I have also seen international students struggle to understand US healthcare networks, deductibles, and copays, especially when trying to avoid high monthly premiums.
In my experience, HMO plans are often the best starting point for students because they are usually cheaper than PPO plans and offer predictable healthcare costs. I always explain to students that an HMO, or Health Maintenance Organization plan, works by using a local network of doctors and clinics. Most HMO plans require students to select a primary care physician and get referrals for specialists. While some students initially worry about network limitations, I have found that many Florida HMO plans have expanded significantly over the last few years. Students who mainly need routine care, urgent care visits, prescriptions, and occasional specialist appointments can often save hundreds of dollars annually by choosing an HMO plan instead of a more flexible but expensive PPO option. The affordability becomes especially important when students are balancing tuition, rent, transportation, and food costs.
Why Florida Students Are Choosing HMO Plans in 2025
I have noticed a major increase in Florida students searching for low-cost same day health insurance coverage during the 2025 school year. The rising cost of healthcare has pushed many young adults toward budget-friendly options that still satisfy university insurance requirements. Florida remains one of the most active states for student enrollment because of its large university population and growing number of online and hybrid college programs. I regularly speak with students attending the University of Florida, Florida State University, University of South Florida, and Florida International University who are trying to reduce monthly expenses. Many of them are working part-time jobs with limited benefits, making affordable HMO plans extremely attractive. Same day coverage has also become more common because insurance carriers now use faster digital underwriting systems that can activate policies almost immediately after payment.
One thing I always tell students is that speed matters when it comes to insurance enrollment deadlines. I have helped students who waited until the final day before campus registration closed, and they needed immediate proof of insurance coverage. Fortunately, several Florida HMO insurers now provide electronic ID cards within hours of enrollment. In many cases, I have seen students complete an online application at noon and receive active coverage before dinner. This quick activation can be critical for students applying for dorm housing, clinical rotations, internships, or visa compliance. The convenience of same day coverage has completely changed how students shop for insurance in Florida. It is no longer necessary to wait weeks for paperwork to process before receiving healthcare access.
Average Monthly Costs for Cheap Student HMO Plans in Florida
I always recommend that students compare monthly premiums carefully because pricing can vary dramatically depending on age, ZIP code, and income level. In my experience, most healthy students between ages 18 and 26 qualify for relatively low monthly premiums if they choose a basic HMO plan with moderate deductibles. Florida’s competitive insurance market has created several budget-friendly options for students who do not need extensive medical care. Some students also qualify for premium tax credits through the Marketplace, reducing costs even further. I have worked with students paying under $100 monthly after subsidies, especially in cities where competition between carriers is strong. However, I also remind students that the cheapest plan is not always the best if the provider network is too limited near their campus.
| Florida City | Average Student HMO Premium (2025) | Average Deductible | Same Day Coverage Availability |
| Miami | $145 per month | $2,500 | Yes |
| Orlando | $128 per month | $2,300 | Yes |
| Tampa | $119 per month | $2,100 | Yes |
| Jacksonville | $111 per month | $2,000 | Yes |
| Gainesville | $102 per month | $1,900 | Yes |
I have personally seen Gainesville offer some of the lowest rates because of the large student population and strong healthcare competition around the university area. Students in Miami usually pay higher premiums because healthcare costs are generally more expensive in South Florida. However, even in Miami, affordable HMO plans are still available for students who qualify for tax credits or choose higher deductibles. I often explain that balancing deductible amounts with monthly premiums is one of the most important decisions during enrollment. Some students prefer lower monthly payments because they rarely visit doctors, while others choose lower deductibles for more predictable medical expenses. Understanding personal healthcare habits can save students a significant amount of money throughout the year.
How Same Day Coverage Works for Florida Students
I frequently help students who are shocked by how quickly coverage can begin today compared to several years ago. In the past, insurance enrollment often required lengthy approval timelines, but digital enrollment systems have accelerated the process dramatically. Most Florida HMO providers now allow online applications with instant eligibility verification. Once the application is approved and payment is processed, students often receive temporary digital insurance cards within hours. I have guided students through the process on their phones while they sat in campus parking lots trying to meet school deadlines. The convenience of electronic enrollment has removed many of the traditional delays that frustrated students in previous years.
One student I helped in Orlando needed proof of insurance before beginning a nursing clinical rotation at a hospital. Her school informed her less than two days before orientation that her previous policy had expired. We completed an HMO application online around 10 a.m., and by early afternoon she had active coverage confirmation and a downloadable ID card. Without same day activation, she would have lost her clinical placement and delayed graduation by an entire semester. Experiences like this are why I encourage students not to assume insurance enrollment takes weeks anymore. Florida insurers have adapted quickly to digital enrollment demand, especially for younger consumers who expect instant service.
Best Features Students Should Look for in Cheap HMO Plans
I always tell students that affordability matters, but value matters even more. A cheap plan that provides poor access to doctors or high prescription costs can become frustrating very quickly. In my experience, students should first verify that nearby urgent care centers and primary care clinics are included in the network. Many students rely on urgent care because they may not have transportation to larger hospitals. I also recommend reviewing prescription drug formularies carefully because some low-cost plans place common medications in higher pricing tiers. Mental health coverage has also become increasingly important among college students, and I have seen more Florida HMO plans expand counseling and telehealth benefits during 2025.
Telemedicine has become one of the biggest advantages for students with HMO plans. I have helped students who attend online classes while living in smaller Florida towns where healthcare options are limited. With telehealth services included, students can speak with doctors virtually for minor illnesses, prescription refills, anxiety treatment, and routine consultations. Many HMO plans now include virtual primary care visits with minimal copays, sometimes under $15 per session. This convenience reduces transportation costs and helps students avoid expensive emergency room visits. In my experience, telemedicine access is one of the reasons modern HMO plans are much more attractive to younger adults than they were several years ago.
Comparing HMO Costs to PPO Plans for Florida Students
I regularly explain the difference between HMO and PPO plans because students often assume all health insurance works the same way. PPO plans offer greater flexibility and broader provider access, but they are usually much more expensive. Most students I work with are primarily focused on affordability and immediate coverage, making HMO plans the more realistic option. I have seen students save hundreds annually simply by choosing an HMO with a strong local network near their campus. While PPO plans may benefit students who travel constantly or need highly specialized treatment, the majority of healthy college students rarely use enough services to justify the higher premiums. Understanding these differences helps students make smarter financial decisions.
| Plan Type | Average Monthly Premium | Primary Care Copay | Out-of-Network Coverage | Average Annual Cost |
| Student HMO | $120 | $25 | No | $1,440 |
| Student PPO | $235 | $40 | Yes | $2,820 |
| Catastrophic HMO | $89 | $45 | No | $1,068 |
| Enhanced HMO | $168 | $15 | Limited | $2,016 |
When students compare annual costs, the financial difference becomes very clear. I often work with students living on strict budgets who cannot afford high monthly premiums. An HMO plan can free up money for rent, textbooks, groceries, and transportation. I also remind students that most younger adults rarely need out-of-network care, especially if they stay within the same city during the school year. The lower copays and reduced monthly premiums associated with HMOs often provide enough value for typical student healthcare needs. For many students, the savings outweigh the limitations.
Real-Life Examples of Students Using Cheap HMO Plans
I remember helping a 22-year-old graduate student in Tampa who lost coverage after aging out of her parents’ insurance plan. She worked part-time at a coffee shop and could not afford expensive private insurance. We found an affordable HMO plan with same day coverage for approximately $118 monthly after a subsidy. Within weeks, she used the plan for an urgent care visit related to a respiratory infection and paid only a modest copay. Without insurance, that visit could have cost several hundred dollars. She later told me the plan gave her peace of mind while finishing graduate school.
I also worked with an international student attending school in Miami who needed insurance immediately to comply with visa requirements. He was confused by the American healthcare system and worried about emergency medical costs. After reviewing several options together, we selected an HMO plan that included telehealth visits, prescription benefits, and emergency coverage. The same day activation allowed him to finalize his university enrollment before the deadline expired. Several months later, he used telemedicine services for seasonal allergies and avoided missing classes. Situations like these demonstrate why affordable student HMO plans can make a major difference in academic stability and financial security.
Florida Marketplace Subsidies for Students
I have found that many students are unaware they may qualify for substantial financial assistance through the federal Marketplace. Depending on annual income, some Florida students receive premium tax credits that significantly lower monthly insurance costs. I have personally helped students reduce premiums from over $250 monthly to under $100. Part-time jobs, internships, and freelance work often place students within income ranges that qualify for assistance. However, accurate income reporting is extremely important because incorrect estimates can create tax complications later. I always encourage students to review projected yearly earnings carefully before finalizing enrollment.
Students who are financially independent often have the greatest opportunity for subsidy savings. I have worked with students who assumed insurance would always be unaffordable until they explored Marketplace options. In some cases, enhanced subsidies available during 2025 have made comprehensive HMO plans surprisingly accessible. Younger adults typically benefit from lower age-based pricing, which further reduces costs. Combining subsidies with lower HMO premiums creates a practical path to coverage for many students. I have seen countless students gain access to preventive care and mental health services they previously avoided due to cost concerns.
Common Mistakes Students Make When Buying Health Insurance
One mistake I frequently see is students choosing the absolute cheapest plan without checking provider networks. A low premium may look attractive initially, but students can face major frustrations if nearby clinics are not included. I always advise students to verify local hospitals, urgent care centers, and pharmacies before enrolling. Another common issue involves misunderstanding deductibles and copays. Some students assume every doctor visit is free after paying the monthly premium, only to discover they still owe deductibles for certain services. Understanding how the plan actually functions prevents unpleasant financial surprises later.
I have also noticed many students wait too long to enroll. Last-minute enrollment creates unnecessary stress, especially when schools require immediate proof of coverage. Although same day activation is widely available today, technical problems or payment delays can still occur. I encourage students to begin researching options at least several weeks before deadlines. Reviewing plan details carefully allows more time to compare benefits, doctor access, and prescription coverage. Planning ahead almost always leads to better insurance decisions and lower long-term healthcare costs.
What I Expect for Florida Student HMO Plans in 2026
Based on current industry trends, I expect Florida student HMO plans to continue expanding telehealth services and digital enrollment tools throughout 2026. Insurance carriers are competing aggressively for younger consumers, which is driving improvements in mobile access and customer convenience. I believe same day coverage will become even more common as insurers streamline verification systems. Mental health coverage will likely remain a major focus because colleges and universities continue emphasizing student wellness programs. I have already seen several insurers improve virtual counseling access and reduce copays for behavioral health visits. These enhancements are making HMO plans far more student-friendly than many people realize.
I also expect competition between insurers to help stabilize pricing in several Florida markets. While healthcare inflation remains a concern nationwide, increased insurer participation can help limit premium spikes for students. In my experience, students who shop carefully and compare multiple plans usually find affordable options even during periods of rising healthcare costs. I anticipate more students relying on mobile apps for healthcare management, appointment scheduling, and digital ID cards. The insurance experience is becoming faster, more transparent, and more convenient for younger adults. This shift is particularly beneficial for busy college students balancing classes, jobs, and family responsibilities.
Conclusion
I have spent years helping Florida students navigate the health insurance market, and I genuinely believe affordable HMO plans with same day coverage are among the best solutions available for many young adults in 2025 and 2026. These plans provide a realistic balance between affordability and essential healthcare access, especially for students managing limited budgets. I have seen firsthand how fast digital enrollment can protect students from missing classes, clinical rotations, or university registration deadlines. Same day activation has transformed the insurance experience and made coverage much more accessible for students across Florida. While every student’s healthcare needs are different, HMO plans continue to offer strong value for routine care, telemedicine access, urgent care visits, and preventive services. In my experience, students who compare plans carefully, understand their benefits, and enroll early are far more likely to find affordable coverage that supports both their health and academic success.
